Waking up late on Sunday mornings, missing breakfast and you knew it’s too early for lunch, so what to do to resolve a peckish noon? BRUNCH.
Sunday brunches have always been important for the ever lazy me, who loves to lie in. It would even be better if I could have it in bed, without being roused by the naggy mother.
Adopting the US and Canada culture, there seems to be a huge uptrend of restaurants serving the breakfast-lunch meal in Singapore. Ranging from à la carte orders like the famous Egg Benedicts or a hefty set of English Breakfast, to Asian Dim Sum or self-served Buffets.
Singling out from most all-day-breakfast/brunch restaurants, Strictly Pancakes presents the doughy favourite in the most unusual ways. The ultimate peculiar ingredients include Beef, Chicken, Salmon and Prawns, the savoury counterparts of the main star.
They are still able to whip up a list of sweets which were more frequently associated with pancakes, think fruits, chocolate and ice cream.
Do keep it in mind, not to be overly obsessed with the entrée section, or you might have stuffed yourself up even before desserts. That theory came by through experience.
Closing an eye on the petite layout of the two-tiered eatery, the portion of their courses were the contrary. The pancakes were chunky and huge, which means it could easily fill you up with two, maybe even just one. However, it would be more delightful if the breakfast cakes were not that heavy, it felt more satiation than satisfaction after the meal.
Our requisitions were the Weekend-Only, All-American ($12), which came with three substantial pieces of pancakes with familiar sides like bacons and sausages, and The two-piece ($5.50) stack accompanied with a serving of maple syrup and garlic-and-herbs butter, which also comes in threes ($7) or fours ($8.50).
The visit was pleasant, despite the fact that my partner and I were filled to the brim but yet did not manage to have any sugary treats.
