WineBOS @ Katong Village

Posted on July 14, 2011

I have always loathed the nosy parent who would ask, whom I was going out with; and if it was a boy. And this particular pleasant evening was no exception. So here’s to you, dear MOTHER; ” To your disappointment, yet again – I met up with a girlfriend, Miss Moonberry to be exact.”

The lesbian date was set conveniently in Katong Village’s freshest face; WineBOS, at east coast road. The initial Jalan Klapa resident branched out and found its way to the EAST. And that, according to me; is one excellent choice.

This ultimate wine devotee holds a considerable range of at least a hundred variant brands in its premises. It doesn’t really matter if you want that premium Australian Shiraz or a reasonable French Chardonnay; you are bound to leave with a smile on your face.

Dine romantically indoors like I did, away from the sweltering Singapore weather or al fresco; whichever you deem fit.

I am guilty of being prey to some of WineBOS’s awesome promotions.

FREE flow housepour wines (sparkling, white & red) and tapas buffet @ $22++ (Mon-Fri, 6-8pm) OR just the FREE flow housepour wines @ $18++ (Mon-Sat, 6-8pm).

MONDAY special, pork knuckles @ $12++ each.

SATURDAY special, $9++ steak!?

Tapas were limited; fried fish pieces and teeny slices of sausages on crackers, that was it. I wished there were more substantial varieties to choose from, to pair with the prodigious alcohols. It was a real downer, seriously.

Thrusting the slight dissatisfaction aside; we ordered à la cartes.

Cheese Platter ($9.50++). Common; smoked and spiced cheddars with crackers on the side. I would appreciate it way better if dried fruits were laid out as well, what a pity.

And a nifty grilled piece of fish served with thick-cut fries and decent coleslaw ($15.50++).

In amidst of a great conversation, Charles; the chief of the lounge, interrupted politely and handed out some meatball samples.

Dipped with mustard, the golden balls of beef mixture were enticing. The stuffed tummies fought boldly with the stubborn eyes and brains; we wanted more MEATBALLS. Thankfully, the obstinates lost and it’s therefore promised; first on our list for the next visit.
