With multifarious cafes specialising in coffees popping out of nowhere in recent months, a year old Kohii stands out from the pack with their Japanese blends.

The decision of residing within the CBD area would definitely need lots of courage and after much thoughts. The crowd comes in at lunchtime and it gets quiet at night, let alone weekends. Hats off to the boss of the establishment.

Mixed Mushroom soup.

I am a mega lover of the fungus done in any ways available. After much raves from fellow bloggers’ reviews, I was eager to dig into the supposedly unique brew.

The once well-received concoction was depressing. Please tell me that your usual chef was absent or something and that the rendition I had was not the genuine delivery.

Seafood Pizza ($12.50)

My worst nightmare for pizzas is the heavy edges, keep me happy with thin crusts anytime. Lucky for me, Kohii does their doughs as slim as can be.

The innovative idea of a wasabi spread as base was excellent with the seafood mix. The portion could be a little less done, it would have been perfect.

Mushroom Aglio Olio ($13.50)

I adored this. The aroma of this pasta was intense after a minor toss with the utensils. I would prefer to savour this all by myself and conveniently overlook the fact that the soup was shoddy.

Carbonara ($12.50)

This noodle dish is a familiar execution in restaurants yet it is one of the best comfort food ever invented, according to me of course.

A raw yolk in the middle deserves an extra thumbs up. The creamy and eggy sauce was relishing, every forkful was equally enjoyable.

My dinner dates that night, Melissa and fellow blogger companion, Derrick (not in picture, obviously).

I had a relatively pleasant evening, thanks to Melissa for bringing me along.

* This is a tasting initiated by Kohii and thank you for having us.*
