Nederburg Wines’ Heritage Heroes range has finally made its way to Singapore.

As an esteemed South African wine producer who has been around for more than 200 years and have won a great number of awards both in South Africa and internationally, it has launched its Heritage Heroes range to honour some of the major figures who have shaped Nederburg’s history and inspired its winemaster, Razvan Macici.

Wines from this Heritage Heroes range are named The Brew Master, The Motorcycle Marvel, The Anchorman and The Young Airhawk respectively, with each offering an inspiring story of a winemaster who has contributed to Nederburg Wines’ success.

The Motorcycle Marvel | Rhône-style blend (2009)

The Motorcycle Marvel honours the legendary winemaker Günter Brőzel, who was cellarmaster at Nederburg from 1956 to 1989. He played a leading role in building Nederburg’s reputation as the most awarded winery in South Africa.

Colour: Dark, intense red

Bouquet: An abundance of spicy,
peppery berry and sweet fruit character.

Palate: A rich and intense, full-bodied explosion of flavour with ripe and silky tannins and an excellent integration between fruit and wood.

Food suggestions: Outstanding with roasts, barbecued steaks, spicy chicken and intensely-flavoured pasta dishes.

Maturation potential: 10 to 15 years

Alcohol: 14.58 % by volume Residual

sugar: 3.16 grams/litre

The Young Airhawk | Sauvignon Blanc (2012)

This wine pays tribute to Johann Graue’s son, Arnold. Graue senior played a key role in improving viticultural standards in South Africa. Like his father, Arnold introduced many technical innovations and was renowned for his winemaking prowess.

Colour: Clear, light green

Bouquet: Layers of green figs, asparagus and minerality, very well integrated with wood.

Palate: Fresh, crisp and zesty with a creamy texture.

Food suggestions: Excellent with seafood such as fresh oysters, crayfish, calamari, prawns and mussels, chicken and pasta dishes, vegetables and fresh summer salads.

Maturation potential: 5 to 7 years

Alcohol: 14.19% by volume Residual

sugar: 2.47 grams/litre

My personal preference would be the Red as the White was exceptionally dry. I love a good full-bodied fruity wine that goes well with meats or cheeses and the Motorcycle Marvel was just the right one.

The Heritage Heroes range is available at S$39 per bottle at DFS. They are also available in popular dining venues and hotel outlets. For direct sales, contact Auric Pacific Marketing Pte Ltd’s general enquiries hotline at +65 687 9100.
